Privatis vs DealCloud: a deal CRM that keeps going after the close.

DealCloud is the best-known front-office CRM in private equity. Privatis includes the deal CRM and pipeline too — and the closed deal becomes a portfolio company, a mark and a line on the LP statement in the same system.

About Intapp DealCloud

What DealCloud does well, and where it stops.

Built for: Mid-to-large PE firms that want a highly configurable relationship and deal CRM, and run the back office elsewhere.

2025: acquired TermSheet. 2026: a governed AI platform for DealCloud clients and a plug-in for OpenAI's ChatGPT.

Strong at

Deal pipeline, firm-wide relationship management and deep configurability.

Where it stops

At the signed deal. No general ledger, capital accounts, valuations or LP reporting — those live in other systems.

Choose Privatis over DealCloud if
  • 01You want the target you diligenced to become the portfolio company — data room, cap structure, KPIs and marks — on the same record.
  • 02You want fundraising to flow into capital accounts without re-keying.
  • 03You'd rather run the front and back office on one platform than integrate two.
DealCloud may suit you better if

You're a large firm whose priority is a deeply customized relationship CRM, with a dedicated admin and a separate back-office stack.

What one ledger changes

The same entry, everywhere it matters.

Every Privatis module posts to and reads from one general ledger. That's what makes these possible without an integration in between.

01

A signed commitment becomes a capital account

The LP CRM, the subscription documents and the general ledger are the same record, so nothing is re-keyed between fundraising and the books.

02

An approved mark posts to the GL

DCF, comps, LBO and option-pricing backsolves reconcile to one fair value. Approving it posts the journal entry that moves NAV, the Level 3 rollforward and every LP capital account.

03

Carry is computed from the books it's paid from

European, American and hybrid waterfalls, with catch-up and quarterly accrual, read the same capital and the same LPA terms the fee engine uses.

04

The K-1 ties to the financial statements

The 1065, K-1s and K-2/K-3s come from the same 704(b) capital as the GAAP statements and LP capital accounts. There's no hand-off to a separate tax file.

05

Filings start from the fund's own data

Form ADV, Form PF, FATCA, CRS and FBAR are produced as filing-ready exports from live holdings and capital, not re-keyed into a consultant's template.

06

The data room follows the deal into the portfolio

The target you diligenced becomes the portfolio company on the same record: data room, cap structure, KPIs, covenants and valuation history together.

07

AI that can read everything and change nothing on its own

AlphaBot works across deals, funds, credit and LP data, inside your information walls. Every change it suggests is a proposal that a person approves.

Privatis vs DealCloud: questions

Is Privatis an alternative to DealCloud?
Yes. Privatis includes a deal CRM and pipeline, relationship tracking with email and calendar capture, and LP fundraising — and adds the fund ledger, valuations, LP portal, filings and K-1s on the same platform.
What is the main difference between Privatis and DealCloud?
DealCloud is a front-office CRM. Privatis covers the whole lifecycle on one general ledger, so a closed deal becomes a portfolio company, a mark and an LP capital account without leaving the system.
Does DealCloud include fund accounting?
DealCloud is front-office software, and we found no fund general ledger in its public materials as of October 2026. Privatis includes a double-entry fund general ledger, waterfalls, management fees and GAAP statements.
